Bringing Bible Stories to Life: Introducing Our Interactive Good Samaritan Storybook

What if children could do more than read a Bible story? What if they could make choices, explore how characters might feel, and consider how Scripture’s lessons apply to their own lives?

That’s the idea behind a new project we’re exploring at The Holy Text: interactive Bible stories designed for young learners and their families.

Our first demonstration brings the familiar parable of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37) to life through colorful illustrations, simple storytelling, and questions that invite children to think about kindness, compassion, and helping others.

A Different Way to Explore Scripture

Designed for children in first and second grade, the storybook combines ten illustrated pages with interactive questions throughout the journey.

As children follow the traveler, meet the Samaritan, and discover what it means to be a good neighbor, they’re invited to make choices and reflect on what they might do in similar situations.

Each response offers encouraging feedback. There are no scores or penalties for incorrect answers. The goal is curiosity, conversation, and understanding.

Importantly, children’s choices don’t change the biblical narrative. Instead, they help children explore its meaning while staying connected to the original story.

Built for Families, Churches, and Christian Schools

We envision these interactive stories as companions to the Bible lessons children are already learning in classrooms, Sunday schools, and at home.

The experience is intentionally simple. No child accounts, advertisements, or AI chatbots. Parents and teachers remain central to guiding children’s learning and conversations about faith.

While artificial intelligence can help us develop educational experiences like these, the finished storybook is a structured, age-appropriate activity rather than an open-ended AI conversation.

Help Us Explore What’s Possible

The Good Samaritan is our first demonstration of what could become a broader collection of interactive Bible stories.

We’re especially interested in hearing from Christian educators, children’s ministry leaders, and parents about how experiences like this might complement their existing teaching.

Could interactive stories help children remember Bible lessons? Encourage meaningful conversations at home? Give teachers another way to engage young learners?

Those are the questions we’re excited to explore.

We’d love to hear what you think and what Bible story you’d like to see next.
